With increased urbanization, there has been significant growth in urban slums. The majority of the urban poor are unskilled or semi-skilled workers. The plight of the urban poor in slum regions stems mostly from their inability to keep up with the skilled workforce class and afford a respectable level of living.

It is essential to raise the educational levels of the urban poor for higher economic growth because slum dwellers in India have very low levels of education. To do this, the Turning Point Educational Trust is committed a number of programs at the targeted area.
